In 2005 I decided to explore There.com and met a lovely woman who convinced me to explore Second Life(tm Linden Lab). I briefly rented a place on the island of Funadama and shortly there-after was creeped out seeing my mentor stalked, and decided between that and meager finances to cancel my trial account.
I played with returning to Second Life, creating Han Held in 2008 and in 2009 made a concerted attempt to find out what the appeal of it was. For several months I had fun exploring Second Life and it's different subcultures, which led me to reactivate my trial account. My trial account still had it's picks (bookmarks which are a part of one's profile) and listed as one of them was my original home in the Funadama region.
I followed the link and found myself in a small, intimate park filled with plants and a small two-story home. It's description said all were welcome and I loved the ambiance -it had been there since late in 2005 and it was peaceful, cozy and a wonderful place to relax. After finding it (and bookmarking it) I visited it regularly any time I was upset or needed some peaceful alone time.
A year later I visited it to find it gone. The parcel was abandoned and all of the items, plants, home, artwork...were all gone.
I felt dazed in a way that is hard to explain, I felt as though the rug had been pulled out from under me. I had been playing with Opensim (an open-source virtual world server) and it occured to me that I could remake Admeja...I could remake it on my desktop albeit imperfect and necesarily inaccurate (due to lack of reference pictures).
From 2011 through 2012 I hunted and grabbed every reference about that region I was able to find through google, flickr and any other resource I could think of, all the while learning how to build and trying to recreate a region with the same atmosphere that I found on that region in 2010 when I teleported to my original home.
It has been 2 years, and only half of it is complete, and even then only the outlines. Filling in the details and such may well take me another 4.
But it's on my computer ...I have all the time in the world.
